Just wondered if any of you modiifiers had considered trying to transplant a Saab engine into a Mk1 or 2?

No idea of the complexity but you get serious bang for bucks.
Buy a dead 98-02 9-3 for £100, B204E has 150bhp & mega midrange torque, a £90 remap alone will take it to 210bhp, TD04 turbo & 3" downpipe 275bhp all on standard internals. The bhp is only half the story midrange grunt puts overtaking acceleration in near supercar territory

That makes Saab barges VERY quick, imagine what it would make a light hatch do?

It's been done before saw one on eBay years ago
Probably easier to put a 1.8t or other vw engine with the same or more power unless you have a Saab

They seem to put the Saab lumps in Corsas and Astras I've seen.

The exhaust and inlet are the same way round GM cars aren't they
VW's are the other way round so it properly makes it a bit more work
Plus Saab's probably used GM engines late on

Post 2002 Saabs use GM engines, prior to that was the Saab H engine which can trace its roots back to Triumph :o
