I saw there's already this thread https://clubgti.com/forums/index.php?threads/mk3-mk2-heated-seats-loom.292222/ but my question is slightly different so thought I'd best start afresh rather than muddy the answers for the OP.

My situation, is I fitted an aftermarket heated seat kit a couple of years ago, into my 1991 CE2 Mk2 Golf GTI, by stripping down the stock GTI seats and adding a kit bought from Amazon.

But I've now picked up some Colour Concept Recaros believed to be from a 6n Polo, although I presume they are the same a Mk3 Golf ones.

The Recaros already have factory heat pads fitted and a plug on the bottom of each seat.

There are no relays under the seats, just a plug, but I'm hoping I can use the existing aftermarket kit I've installed in the car.

This has a dash switch, some kind of module and all the fuses and relays required behind the dash and just sends the cables for the seat pads under the carpet.

My current loom just has a simple positive and negative for each pad. So 2x 2-pin-plug at each seat. I'm sure I can combine into a single positive and negative as the Polo seat has all the individual pads joined into a single purple plug on the bottom of the seat. However, the plug on the seat has 3 pins by the looks of it.

So do I need to join two or ignore one?

I'm looking for help with wiring diagrams, I guess I just need to know which is the positive and negative for each seat pad?

If anyone can help tell me what to join up that would be great.

The tt seats I've got , mk4 style admittedly not mk3/polo but they have 4 wires, one supply, one sensor and 2 earth, perhaps yours has the earth combined on it already?

    Ah, sensor!

If I can confirm that then it’s likely I can just ignore that.

    nice one.

... but I'm not good at understanding wiring diagrams.

It's also not great image quality :-(

Have you looked in rubjonnys stash of documents?
If on a phone, turn it sideways and his link to documents is in his signature.

I'll see what can find after tea pal.

I think, but please check, you have probably got Brown (ground), Brown and Black (+ve to elements) and a Red/Black which is for the sensor.

So if you supplied 12v to the Brown & Brown/Black it should heat the elements.

Get a picture of the 3 wires, interested and checking.

    And tea was tasty.

    Excellent, thanks.

on closer inspection (I popped the plug out of the holder) there’s actually 4 wires.

    yellow/black
    Brown
    White/black
    Brown/black

the brown and yellow/black are fatter wires with wider terminals.

P.s. I had jacket potatoe, cheese and beans

Aye, 2 fatter wires will be feed, other 2 sensor, just looked in my book to find the tt seat diagram I worked out for mine, used passat switches and have variable heat.
Colours don't marry up with yours, but it's a later platform.

Aubergine, courgette, onion, pepper and mushrooms in a Lebanese spice mix. Gurt lush.
