Its really the best bits of three cars, two track Ibiza's and one Cordoba, been in the making 2 years, but at least it now goes. Snag list a couple of pages, so its going to get used by the summer, if not earlier; Jon
Everything done to save weight, and be easily maintainable, at the expense of looking NOT like a show car. Co driver gets to be in charge of all instruments, including lambda, knock sensor etc
Nova electric PS with its own speed sensor feeding Quaife quick rack the main driver aid, lousy gearchange biggest headache still to solve. Fancy steering wheel still to buy.
Brief spec: ABF ex F2Stu rebuilt with solid lifter top end and slightly different exhaust cam (long story). Quaife six speed synchro kit , Quaife LSD, and 4.25 FD in 02J casing, big Wilwood 4 pots on 300mm discs, 2 1/4 stainless system and proper manifold, Jenveys, DTA, Harness stripped down, Poly bushed, big rose jointed AR bars, mid range 'coilovers', Safety devices 7 point bolt in, usual budget FIA seats/belts/extinguishers, everything removed that's not serving a purpose......still looking for fibreglass hatch and bonnet if anybody knows where to get them...??
Wey hey....another 'real' motorsport car to watch progress!!!!! How come the electric power steering over the standard hydraulic one Jon? I've always liked the feel of a hydraulic one? Gear change solution - Gotta be an 02J shifter and tower in your parts bin? As for the dash - form follows function....just as it should be in a competition car.
thanks guys. Single or multi venue, tarmac only, its still got the standard tank in Got to have a quick rack, its almost pointless running without one, you lose so much time through the chicanes you can never make up. So, only manual ones available, so electric steering. Tried it on my mk1 and am totally convinced. Removed the crap shifter this morning , installing an alloy bodies one now. Dash, is what it is Jon
This looks fantastic, hell of a spec too! Nice to see it ready to race, i remember seeing it when i made the trek over a year ago for the 8v cylinder head setup, i think it was just a shell and an idea then! Great work
Sister car completed and MOT'd today. Only cosmetics left to do, and get it MSA logbooked. Basically a re-shell of my mk2 tarmac car; Electric PS and quick rack Full race 9A on 45's Twin pump swirl pot fuel system FM code 020, LSD, and 5.2:1 FD G60 brakes+ DS2500 Mid range coilovers, heavy AR bars Hyd handbrake, manual bias valve Safety devices bolt in Satnav speedo shines onto screen As light as possible. I know this will be a good car, as the engine/box is super sweet. (157ftlb...) Jon Needs some 2 pack white paint to complete
