The shopping list just keeps getting longer and longer

Cool, I'll give you a bell when I next change the oil and give it a try.

Using Mobile 1 motorsport at the moment.

Just catching up on this thread and when I first read this bit I read it as tailgate and that the motor was the wiper motor. Needless to say the next sentence made no sense whatsoever!

    Keep at it Bill.

True - but since they are clearly so hard to find - then if you dink one you'll have three sat around useless. At least if you have a couple of spares then that won't happen.

What boost do you run on your wiper motor then? ;)

    test day survived yesterday
lovely weather but biting cold wind.. hey ho

ibiza ran well.. not without incident tho, as it spat out its T3 manifold gasket and 2 of the 4 mounting bolts.. (never re-use heat cycled bolts, I know and never do, but did'nt have 3/8 unc bolts to hand.. )
I was very lucky and thankful that tim had one @ home and was kind enough to go and get it for me, and merlin had some bolts which I could use.

some good logging runs done, and tweaks of fueling and boost levels and delivery. excellent day of adjusting

day was not for me one of achieving out and out lap time, but one for reaquainting myself with the car some 2 years out of the drivers seat, and logging the reassembled engine.. that said 1m16.2s lap was reported to me later in the day, so I am very happy with that knowing how I was driving it, was for logging boost and fueling not track attacking.

car feels planted through tower, loads of grip so I like the SQS plate diff, really pulls me round..
being able to fully control boost delivery is superb.. wish I had gone standalone ecu years ago.

When upping the boost and delivery of it, I did come across a misfire on higher boost (only ran to 1.6bar max gauge yesterday-4th gear wheelspin ), which transpired to be the crank sensor wire passing underneath the coilpack, and causing signal interferance.. moved the wire away and problem went away.

low boost 0.8bar off actuator only was smooth and very drivable - hopefully good for wet races.

3 year old tyres used, which cant be at their best too, so overall the day was a good one.
    Badgerwagen lives again

I am most certainly rusty behind the wheel.. and old.. aka old fart behind the wheel..
seat seems "tighter" than I remember.. lol.. phat b'stad syndrome
its comedy seeing me getting in and out of the car navigating my none too flexible body past the climbing frame roll cage.

the car felt ok and nice and pointy.. seems stiffer than I remember, which is most likely true given the shells tied into the roll cage. I will probably look to soften the damping a smidge so its more composed over the combe bumps. folly flat in 5th is scarey on even the low 1.6bar boost I am currently running.

I would love to get time/ to test on an airfield day somewhere so I can hurl the thing about and feel what its going to do... I am not at one with the car by any means.. and as such a granny under braking and through camp relative to the others yesterday who were pushing hard.. I expect there's as much time to come from me and probably far more as there is from the cars continued development.

g'box is supurb changing tho.. sweet set of ratios keeps it going well with minimal changes required from combination of the close stack and rev powerband its got. From logs I only revved it to 7800rpm yesterday of the 9000rpm it can do (and pull)

got to complete the rebuild for safety bits not yet reinstalled.. so its not all done yet by any means.

Good first test outing tho. reduced ign timing for peace of mind. plugs were checked and perfect colour and condition.

Good stuff - back out where it belongs!

Let us know your planned races and I'm sure various will be along to support.

When you say rusty, I felt the same at Combe last Oct. Up to Avon.... wtf do I do here again? Lines/brakes [:s] I know, straight to the traffic light! Keeps it simple!

it all happens rather quickly tho.. eak!
dropping into the 16's from what was an engine logging session makes me feel quite happy tho.

deffo a quicker car than last time it raced. shame about the driver. its faster and I'm slower. - doh!

Yep, times are v. positive. The power must be getting down - bonus!

What's corner speed like on the 1As, with the new stiffer cage? Much to tell?
