had A539's and have to say they took everything i could throw at em and more, just had rears changed after 18 months, 20k road miles and 5 trackdays, 2 pairs on the front in same time (one being avs sports though, don't even think about it, less grip than 539's and wear out twice as fast). MK1 is very easy on tyres though, cos i don't look after them. Edited by: Counterfeit
From the very early days of me doing track events, I have used Yoko road tyres. They were A520's when I inherited the car. The fronts gave way pretty quickly, and were replaced by A539's. The rears are still with me, and the new fronts are prob half worn. I cant recommend them enough, but as ever, a different person will prefer something different. I dont like the F1's but I tried them. I dont think that I will better the A539 as a road biased track tyre, hence why I have bought some more for my new track wheels
i had the 539 then went over to the toyo T1S much better in the wet and dry but they only last me 2.5 months [:^(]2500 miles not so good
i have seen a 539 worn out in one day at combe !!! Bless the lil clio 172 thingy tried to keep up but ... f**ked his tyres in the process !!
