so, i hate to admit it but my 2.0 8V bora is slow, its been pretty much faultless. but its pretty dull.

Having read Eddies post on his S3 i think its time i upgrade my the engine. the car has a sporty look to it and it looks like it should be faster than it is.

if it swap the engine to a similar mk4 platform engine, 170 V5, 24v V6(but fwd) or 1.8t. what else would i need besides the engine, loom and ECU.

Buy a doner car and just swap the bits over, you will probably find the v6 etc will have larger brakes etc than your standard car

Agree, find a whole car if you can. It would save money in the long run!

Carey's car I have been to see and is the right EU2 car as a doner.

I dont think so, the floor plan I'm assuming is wrong.

That is very tempting what's the engine like?

Inside the car how much work is there? Under the bonnet I am ok with I think.

Fit the engine and box, wiring etc and sell the rear end

Use a conversion plate for the box to make it 2wd

You can speak to Martin 'hotgolf' about that for the 02M transfer case end.

It's 4WD so needs to block the propshaft going to the rear.
Maybe an 02J box would be better?

Would this become a Gora? lol

You can also use the box off a Bora V5 to reduce hassle.

It would be nice to have the 6th gear.

    And that's cheaper than finding a 2wd 6spd box

It's nice to know that would work but it's a bit clunky, doesn't feel very engineered. If that's makes sense.
