biggest thing is the wiring you Bora won't have a lot of what later mk4's have being the 2.0l 8v
AGU 1.8t is probably the easiest swap

with a 2.0l 8v it makes little difference what era it is you'll just have to add what you need not that difficult I'd say
just adding the extra wires to the plugs above the pedal box not sure it is worth swapping the full dash loom unless you wanted climate control or if it was non canbus
do 2.0l gti's have canbus ? I take it they have a mfa

Both cars are EU2 vehicles or pre 2001. So all bits and the bits missing will just plug and play.

It can get a tad bit tricky one of the vehicles was a EOBD or EU3 vehicle.

You know I do not make the comments flippantly.

my friends Bora is the other way round late engine early traction control but immo 3

as you say with the right parts it's fine

Other than the dbw throttle wire it

I'd fit the clocks from the 4mo swap the key blade to the 4mo key
Use vag tacho to correct the mileage to the same as the Bora

Though the ECU will work with the Bora clocks just need to clear the known values and change the soft coding
    Joys of Immo2 ecu :)

    Stuff to swap

front subframe, wishbones, larger brakes etc
    engine
    gearbox
    engine loom/s & ECU
    Radiator
    airbox

    questions

    Are the following the same?

    AC compressor & pipes
    PAS pump & pipes
    Carbon cannister
    Fuel pump/s & lines

Also, are there any bolt on upgrades, from 3.2 engines that are worth doing whilst its all in bits?

the wiring is i think my biggest worry,

i can do the timing chains and the clutch i'll change for SMF and ditch the DMF anyne know of a kits for sale?

the DBW pedal setup wiring and ECU looms worry me, i can find write ups for 2.0 to 1.8t but not 2.0 to V6 any thoughts?

For a SMF, speak to Mart (hotgolf). From memory i used a G60 flywheel and sent it to him and then a VR6 clutch.

The V6 and 1.8t looms are pretty much the same so go by the 1.8t guide that Jonny made. I followed it and it was fine.

With most it's plug in and play but in you case you have to add the drive by wire there will be blank spaces for the wires to be added at the plugs above the pedals it should be relatively simple think I have wiring diagrams for this as does John I can email you them or you can find them in John's link

Aye Matt they should be pretty much the same on most mk4 golf's he may even be lucky and it already has most of what he needs without having to add stuff just depends

DBW conversion for mk4 is no problem, its on its own plug in the loom so you just fit the new ECU loom and plug the pedal straight into the blue plug

theres nothing to mess with wire side apart from the power feed from the fan control module to the electric waterpump probably wont be in the T14a plug, I dont believe this pin is wired unless the car is a V5/6 donor to start with but I'm not 100%. I only get the ecu side of the looms in when I get a conversion to do

worst case its just a case of untape the loom between the FCM and the T14a plug, add the missing wire from pin 1 on the FCM to pin 13 on the T14a :)

edit: oh and the r32 exhaust flapper valve wire wont be in there either, its simple to wire pin 14 of the T14a to one side of the valve and an ignition feed to the other pin. getting the wires front to back is the hard part

Nothing wrong with the DMF dude. Ignore the internet noise on that matter.~
Take the whole lot and just swap.
    It is not all that.

Mart pointed me in the direction of Bill, (which was a surprise) who like Eddie suggested keeping the DMF.
