The bits on the side of the radiator are original as far as I know. They are ducts to direct the air flow into the radiator I think.

Correct they are original, they were on my abandoned 16V project and on my old 16V as well.

Progress has slowed recently but we're edging closer to the finishing line. The guy who ran the shop doing the work retired and wasn't able to get my car completed, however the new owner (thanks to Xander at Ashbourne Auto Technik for the photos) has agreed to finish this off.

Left to do (roughly) is bleed brakes (the old reservoir cracked and dumped all the fluid so had to order a new one), then work on some fuel pump issues and hopefully start her up.

Pics as the car stands today. Once running and MOT'd new wheels (Ronal LS) going on then will be going for a full detail then hopefully I get to have a drive after almost 15 years off the road!

Not much progress here but slowly inching towards the finishing line. Brakes bled and good to go and new wheels on. Should sit a little lower I hope after things settle. Old BBS RA refinished and I'll put those away for now and see how I like the Ronal LS. Still have fuel pump issue to fix.......

Inching closer day by day. Uprated wiring loom fitted, so the light may be slightly less awful I hope. 55dc7b50-24b2-42e4-9e48-24bfac3a546b.jpg 3691ca5b-40c5-4807-9c01-454f8ac89318.jpg e5d21533-e307-4f6e-ab67-ca9e383352a5.jpg c1defc4a-0587-46ed-bbfd-234358e611e3.jpg

After many issues with the fuel swirl pot and the fuel pump and various lines, the car was finally started for the first time since I think 2008! Unfortunately it cuts out and won’t idle, so something else to work on, but the finish line is in sight.

So we have a finished car.......kind of. It runs but sounds tappety. They were replaced when the engine was rebuilt so the guy who did it will get this dealt with next week. Then just an MOT and alignment then we're done (needs a good clean/detail as well). Fingers crossed on the road for the end of June.

And we are finally done. Taxed, tested and insured. Tappets fixed and engine running well. Collection tomorrow, first proper drive and straight off for a detail.

Pulled well through all the gears and the oil temp never got above 80 degrees. It’s now in for a detail - the pictures hide a lot of the accumulated grime!

Looking good... the underneath looks really clean. Wondering where you got your wings from as I might be needing some shortly?
