Blocks back from the machine shop: +1mm oversize, luckily had some mint pistons
    in a box.
Crank measured up, new bearings ready.
Misc consumable engine parts ordered. (gaskets etc)

Question: where do I source the 22mm gudgeon pin circlips ? (G60 and EG had a big gudgeon pin diameter)

Google has let me down , for once.
    Thanks
    Jon

did a quick google (hint, if you put site:clubgti.com into your google search it will only return the very best results ;))

    and found this:
    https://www.clubgti.com/forums/inde...stons-for-pikey-small-block-16v-turbo.234927/

    which mentions:
"2.4 DL Pistons (From LT van 76.5mm bore, 22mm gudgeon pin, nice flat crown)"

Also I had a look in ETKA and G60 clips are the same as normal MK2 ones apparently, but like you say the EG engine has 22mmx1.5 listed which is part number N 0122781, and VW still stock them at 67p+VAT each

Doing a x-ref on that number shows it on a diesel engines in the mk2/mk2f polo, the LT as mentioned above, plus some in later caddy van, very recent polo and new scirocco, and the touareg

    Excellent rubber man.
Really didn't think the dealers would still stock these. 1980, so 38 years old....
Dropped in today, found they did, ordered a couple of sets.
Just about to update this thread...
Here tomorrow, pistons in during weekend hopefully
    Thanks
    Jon
