    Quite sobering...

    Very pleased to hear they got out, even though it sounds like the poor girl is in such a bad way. Trust they both recover soon.

    A car is just metal at the end of the day - sounds like it did its job pretty well though, and I hope your friends make a full recovery.

    It's very lucky that two people got out of that alive considering how the roof has smashed in. People say MK2s are strong and I suppose they were compared to other cars of similar age, but they're still like a paper bag. I really hope she recovers fully. Poor girl.

    i wish your friends a speedy recovery!!!

    Sadly we see alot of this here in Oz, long straight roads with poor lighting (if any!) it is very easy to drop off! I had have had 2 close calls..no i didnt learn the first time but the second time with a (then) pregnant wife and a 2 yo in the car it wont be happenig again.

    Now I make sure I have rest stops and grab a coffee.
