Many years ago I had a 1990 1.6 Mk2 Driver and when I replaced the timing belt I put in a 1.8 GTI 8v cam shaft. It made a whole lot of difference in the Rev range and picked up a little on acceleration. As if this I’m wondering if a camshaft from a 1.6 would go in the 1.3 that I have now seeing as I’m replacing the cam belt next week. If anyone’s done this or knows if it will work, please let me know thanks

I really doubt it, as the only cam everyone wants for a 1.3 is the Polo GT one.

Thanks for advice guys. I’ve found a company in Germany who can supply me a Schrick 268 cam and then I’m going to replace the standard pierburg carb (which is already temperamental) for a Webber 32/34. This along with the decat pipe and straight through exhaust should give me a little extra grunt and make it a bit more fun to drive?

Has the schrick got the fuel pump drive lobe on it? Most don't.

Rally Design, Demon Tweeks, Merlin Motorsports, Car Builder Solutions, loads of places.
It has to be low pressure. As regards fitting, you'll have to do some plumbing. I fitted bike carbs to a 1.3 and fitted the pump where a GTI has its 12v pump, under the floor, in front of the tank. I spliced it into the original fuel line.

It earth's to the chassis, you'll have to bring an ignition switched live to it.

i would use a proper fuel relay, otherwise pump wont cut out if you crashkjet one triggers off the rev counter so can be used on carby cars since wire is always there to fusebox for the oil warning system even if you are poverty spec
