Anyone know the location of the camshaft positional sensor on a vw beetle 1.6. 2002 model with a BFS engine? I have checked the usual place but cannot see it.

Finally located it! It is at the back of the head near the throttle body by the bulk head/ fire wall.
Unfortunately. the 3 pin wire connector is broken and missing with the individual wires pushed into the sensor. No idea yet if they are in the correct order or if they are making contact with each other and shorting.

Need to get a repair replacement connector to rewire. Anyone by any chance have a wiring diagram showing which colour wires go to the appropriate pin connectors?

Just put the wiring diagram in my signature link 1c1bfsecu.pdf. Cam sensor wire colours are as follows:
    1 - grey/red
    2 - grey
    3 - yellow

    HTH :)

    Cheers rubjonny, really appreciate it.
Also is it really necessary to have gold plated pins on the electrical connector to the camshaft sensor as i cannot find a pigtail connector for sale with gold plated terminal pins?
