Almost, ive just got to finish the indicators screen wash.
The first weigh in of a MK5 give you 1074kg so not as heavy as i thought.

I dont know i think if a touring car weighs 1200kg and can lap Brands in the 48's then money thrown on handling and setup i should be able to run atleast low 51's although it wont be 7k a corner. ive got a shake down on Sunday at Lydden so i'll report back tomorrow

Anybody fancy having a guess what mine weighs? Apart from being interested, I'm trying to find a suitable tow car and need to factor in the weight.
I'll be hopefully weighing it properly in a month or so, will report back.

    MK2 Trackcar 3dr 90H
    Stripped with bucket seats
    Welded cage to front struts
    PAS
    1.8t, VR6 rad, G60 IC
    No heater
    Carbon roof and bonnet
Poly rear windows x3, glass up front.
    Normal battery
    Minus 4Kg from the loom.

    Think that's it.

    Cheers!

I weighed mine today, just down at the local tip. Not sure how accurate their weighbridge is but it came in at 900kg.

    Non sunroof shell
    Multi point 1.5" cage
    2L 16v turbo
    02J gear box
    Perspex windows
Standard doors (although completely stripped, nothing cut out)
    Carbon bonnet and boot
No underseal or sound deadening anywhere
A couple of brackets removed, but plenty more in there that could come out.
VR6 radiator, Ralley intercooler and an oil cooler as well

Last year my mk2 golf weighed 1000KG

    5dr

    stripped interior
    welded cage
    OMP race seat (heavy)
    full glass
    K04 1.8t
    no interior metal removed
    sunroof

on the scales at the pod was 670KG over the front and 330 over the rear

Being painted at the moment I have removed the sunroof, rear bench seat metal removed, most of the underseal removed underneath (didn't remove exhaust) new stripped out doors with Lexan all round (minus windscreen)

will update next month once it has been weighed again

Right so after a semi successful weekend the new race weight (without driver) is .... 933 KG

    [:D]

could make the seat lighter but now only have 300 KG over the rear wheels so quite happy with that - also bought some lighter wheels which should have helped ....

My production gti mk2 8v is 842kg with no driver but fuelled up and ready to go. That's built within PGTI regulations so no Perspex or bits chopped off/Out

A little bit of a different theme now...

I am looking at structurally optimising a Mk2 control arm as part of a University project - For this I need to calculate the forces acting on the arm in certain directions.

In order to do this, the centre of gravity is needed.

Does anyone know (roughly) where the CoG is on a Mk2? Standard or stripped...

I have estimated it to be 2550mm forward from the rear of the bumper and around 820mm up from the floor. This is the door swage line just beneath the window seal in front of the mirror.

I cannot find any official information on this, and hoping that some one on here can help :)

    Cheers
