Fitted the rear studs, used a couple of Ford wheel nuts to double nut them in, used some Loctite stud retainer as 'belts and braces'. I was a bit concerned the studs would be 'too' long but they look ok on the O-Zs Not 'so' good on the winter steels though, I think James Bond would be proud of them..
Charriot racing G eh? These studs dont look any better than grayston ones in the flesh.. 1st heat cycle torque em up again. if mine are anything to go by they will loosen 1st time they get spanked ontrack... big time!
No, for 4 each I was expecting them to be a bit nicer, but at least they have a stop to the thread that screws in the hub. Too late now they're fitted
I bought some like that from Demon Tweaks for the Nova , much prefer that idea, although you`s have to change the fr wheel bearings if you pulled the hubs out?
Yeh, are they split in the middle? seem to remember mine came out in 2 halves? (2 years ago and my memory`s not that good )
I'n a bit dissapointed with them too, was hoping for the finish to be better than it is esp for the price. apparantly they are made from a high grade steel though so that might justify the price. The company are used by VW racing so they studs should be up to the job. Might get time to fit mine this weekend, was considering a small spot weld on the back to secire the stud in place.
Nah, the inner and outer bearings are in one casing, but generally when you press out the flange it pushes out the outer bearing inner race.
Just found these on www.motordrive.com/acatalog/Accessories.html Pricey, but as this is becoming a thread about supplies for studs, thought I'd post 'em.
Another option here Chris. http://rallynuts.com/motorsport/Wheel_Studs_1942/Wheel_S tuds_Long_GM_Metric_788.asp
They look very nice Gary, tempted to do this conversion next time I need to replace a front bearing..
