Dashboard illumination

    Hi,
    Am intending to fit LED dashboard illumination light bulbs in my Mk1 GTi

    Would like take the dashboard out just once.

    How many bulbs will I need to do the whole job.

    Will replace bulbs in both clocks and switches

    all the switch bulbs are accessible without removing the dash, the main clocks use 3x bulbs if it has rev counter or 2 if it doesnt

    Any idea where I can get the led bulbs for the light switch and hazard warning and hand brake warning lamps.

    you could try ultraleds.com, this was my go-to source back in the day. just be careful with hazard switch, it has a fat rersistor inside which drops the voltage to the bulb when you just have dash lights on, which is bypassed when hazards are on so it can flash brightly. on my mk2 this ended up extremely bright all the time and a little bit distracting :lol:
