    Hi all.
The centre inner part of my mk2 golfs' dashboard, that joins the heater matrix to the windscreen blowers is badly damaged /missing. Has anyone repaired this section if so what product did you use?
    Thanks Steve

Common problem on mk2s, normally from wiring behind the stereo getting rammed into it.
Im not sure really what you could use apart from cutting it out and glueing in a new piece of hardboard, or using Fibreglass.

Any time I've a dash out, I usually put a couple of thin support webs into the opening.

    Hi.
Thin support weaves/webs? Do you mean fibreglass and resin?

No, usually something like a bit of thin aluminium, to help the opening retain its shape.

I noticed the same issue on mine when I did the matrix recently so I'm interested to see how you get on as I will be doing the same during the summer. The supports sound like a good solution. Lots of pictures please

I glued a piece of modelling plastic sheet (bought off ebay) stuck with areldite to restore the long sides of the aperture.

I then diluted some PVA and brushed that on.
Suggest giving the dash a good shake if it is out to get rid of those dreaded bits of foam from the heater flaps.
