Hi, does somebody have dyno figures of standard MK3 16V ABF, I did some basic mods on mine but I did not have opportunity to mesure it before mods. Now as this "stuff" started to grow in my country to I have a chance to put my MK3 on dyno but I have nothing to compare figures with and see if any gains are acchieved. Thx!
158.5bhp at 6456rpm 134.2 lbft at 5920rpm This was a standard engine but with 8v exhaust system (don't ask). Martyn '94 Vento 16v
This is power on wheels or... ? 2 G Man: Nothing special, head P&P, valve seats done, Supersprint R Series exh. manifold(no cat) from which 2 small custom made silencers go till the end, AMD remap, K&N 57i but custom CAI, that's about it.
That can make a huge difference on an ABF... They get choked by the standard ECU and therefore make 160-170 BHP without too much work... (the remap should give a substantial increase in power) Word has it that volkswagen didn't want to get too close to the power output of the vr6, on which they had spent soo much time and money developing...
Yes so I heard, but I would like to put it on dyno to see what all those things I changed bring, 'cause I can't find annywhere what gains ABF makes whit this mods
I don't think many ABFs will make 158bhp at the wheels STANDARD... After the re-chip by AmD the figures were 168bhp @ 6202, 147lbft @ 5639. Flywheel!!! Martyn '94 Vento 16v
My old one (standard) was 163bhp at the flywheel on Stealth's rollers and 168bhp after fitting a Jetex exhaust and K&N filter.
Yes, yes i thought so but I had to ask just in case 'cause I asked this question on few other places and I'll juste tell you I heard bunch of from various "enthusiasts" Anyhow, what would be power on wheels if standard shows 158bhp on flywheel ?
my car is a mk3 2.0 16v abf , kingdragon filter, remus exhaust, koni suspension,OMP springs and a powersystem chip. i have realise a nice power change after i have put the chip, good ending.
Mines a 9A, so slightly different to an ABF, but still 2.0 16v and it made 162bhp and 152Ibft at the flywheel, which was around 120 bhp at the wheels. Mines got a KR inlet cam DIY flowed head and both manifolds, Magnex exhaust and still runs a cat.
About 250 IIRC - but we're talking 5 years ago now. I hear Stealth are the peeps to go to nowadays; AmD are a bit too upmarket.
Oh you, I was hoping to hear from you on this subject Ok, I'm stupid and my English sucks, cat-back means cat is removed or not? And again thoes this "system" means exhaust manifold changed or not because if by the "system" you mean that standard exh. maniflod is also changed then ONLY 5 BHP gain with complete exhaust changed including manifold which actually is the only thing bringing any gains ???
Thanx for explaining, a 5 bhp gain what golfgirl achieved with this mode when manifold/downpipe is left standard is ok to expect.
