Well wednesday this week me and a mate who knows more than me started to build up the engine - was going great but then 1st issue

rear crankshaft seal on the abf unit was all in one no allowing me to replace the rubber seal without replacing the plastic bit which goes around it, after finding none in stock in norwich it was looking like a show stopper, then my mate reckoned he had the new type gasket which allows you to just replace the seal so we got that sorted swiftly onto issue two for the day

the abf flywheel which i had lightened was then fitted - we started fitting the clutch oonly to find that it wouldnt fit the flywheel - after some digging it turned out to be a old flywheel from a 80bhp passat - checked my ebay purchase from a year previous only to find that the cheating theifing pikey as sold me a passat flywheel as an g60 so if anyone requires a slightly lightened small flywheel 215mm i beleive let me so that really was a show stopper so that ended the day - still happy though

had another mini session on the engine today - got the cambelt on after the tensioner\stud debacle, found out i am missing powersteering pump housing and started focusing on the trigger wheel and sensor

Why've you put an external trigger wheel on ? If it's ABF block and crank it's got one inside already . [:s]

    Looks nice

It's taken me all weekend to read all this while getting it in the ear from my missus for being on my phone the whole time ???? this is a great build and I bet you're stoked there is finally a lick of paint, even if it is just primer!
How difficult was it to line up the hydraulic clutch hole? I see you've made quite some modifications to the bulkhead...
Keep it up I look forward to seeing progress.

hi the clutch hole just need some beating with a hammer, the bulkhead modifications were due to some dodgy welding earlier in the project :)
