cool one thing though....i'm using strip lights, not roses i'm also having two in each garage (theres 2 garages) with each garage on one switch. then theres also two outside lights (not strips) under carport which will be run on a water proof outdoor switch.
same principle for strip lights as will have connector blocks inside. you need to apply the first diagram for creating a circuit of lights and switches - then the second (above) to add the second light to each of the switched lights. I can do you a diagram but it will need to wait till later tonight as I will hand pen it and scan in as JPG for you - can only blag lunch break for so long!
yeah, i get it now....cheers. sometimes i like to double and triple check that i understand stuff. will hopefully have it finished by end of w/end....so i suddenly dissappear from the forum then i've blown myself up!
thanks very much for you help mate, i know what i'm doing know i think....though i am gonna get an electrician to plug check it over before plugging it in. Edited by: acf8181
ok, one more small q.... one of my lights is one of these, now it has two earth points, one on the base and one on the bulb holder....which should i attach the earth to? apart from that i'm almost done, has gone quite nicely.
a std celing rose usually has just the live and neutral wires connected as there should be a bulb fitted at all times, is usually out of reach and shielded by plastic so earthing isn`t an issue. id just connect to the rose as you need it to comply with regs. if you want you could run some earth strand and sleeve to the actual lamp holder for peace of mind
