Did the mk1 Storm have the GTI ratio'd 4 speed? If so, I have one tucked away, along with the mounts and linkage. Have kept this as I know there will be people out there who want to return their early cars (mk1 golf's/scirroco's: pre 1980 ish) to 'original'. Likewise, have a couple of 1588cc EG short motors.....with decent bores Jon
To the o.p. - The EW engine is a mk2 Scirocco 1,6 carburettor engine block. Yours should be an EG if it's still original. In any case a W reg would have come with a close ratio 5-speed gearbox - something like an FD, FM code.
