    Hello

We have recently bought a renovated 1989 Golf GTI Mk2 3D.
We are reviewing what small items still need to be addressed and discovered quite accidentally that if the boot is unlocked manually when the car is centrally locked then when the car is centrally unlocked the boot gets locked and vice versa; it seems to be put out of sync by the manual interference.
I've tried to understand why this might be; can anyone throw any light on this issue.
I've got a Haynes manual and looked on a number of forums to try and understand exactly how the boot central locking works and have found nothing that explains this strange behaviour.
Is it normal or has the restoration been done incorrectly in some way?
    Thanks
    Simon

Pop off the cover across the inner hatch, maybe some of the rods are loose.
