short answer: no long answer: the mk1 golf leads are the same lengths as mk2 and mk3, but around 1985 the plug ends to the dizzy cap and coil changed. early lead ends have a connection similar to a ciggy lighter socket and the cap/coil hole is plain, late leads have pins inside the cap/coil holes and leads have clips on the end which secure over them. Early coil left, late right: late plug lead and early coil: early lead end: if you fit a late type coil and find a late dizzy cap which fits tyour mk1 dizzy (mk2 kjet gti would probably work) then you can use mk3 leads on a mk1
