To me looks like a 8 valve gti from a mk3 but it goes too well for just a 115 Bhp engine ! The car had a full restoration last year, it’s rust free, has a new set of ta technix coilovers, mk3 gti front axle, mk3 gti front brakes, new clutch, engine has been rebuilt, gtd radiator, new driveshafts, new brakes all round, new wheel bearings all round, new battery, new genuine hella front and rear lights and much, much more ! The guy was in need of money and he also had a few more cars to use so I made him an offer ! 612277DD-AA65-4594-B740-61E113EFE03B.jpeg 612277DD-AA65-4594-B740-61E113EFE03B.jpeg 8B47F6FB-79F5-4BD7-BBAF-45563AF7D166.jpeg AB71DE78-1AFA-4488-B8E4-E3F2E28A29B2.jpeg 47C42E81-5DA6-42DA-81C9-D222B9A620BD.jpeg E8F34FEF-4771-4417-86DA-57AA112195D1.jpeg 8042B340-DB3A-4DD8-9280-8FD96341BAE0.jpeg 340882AC-C36C-4304-9B84-0BFF519BBCC2.jpeg 4379097F-BB52-4D27-B3C9-B9FB54AF4D49.jpeg F5AF851F-9F3B-4B06-83E2-644E65909FA6.jpeg E0EC7F1B-51F8-4152-9C66-AED133D3BED8.jpeg 34A960BD-FD96-4D85-A449-5F3AB347B85F.jpeg 5A6F7045-F133-4C75-91FA-72B7E8F9442B.jpeg A83A22ED-98B9-40E5-AD5C-48EF37BFCF1C.jpeg 8EE10786-BBCE-4CC7-84FD-5AFBADC1BC46.jpeg 8B47F6FB-79F5-4BD7-BBAF-45563AF7D166.jpeg AB71DE78-1AFA-4488-B8E4-E3F2E28A29B2.jpeg 612277DD-AA65-4594-B740-61E113EFE03B.jpeg 8B47F6FB-79F5-4BD7-BBAF-45563AF7D166.jpeg

Only snag it’s been painted with that raptor $hit paint and the finish it’s not to my taste ! Is there any way to remove that finish without using chemicals? Car goes really nice otherwise. Few minor issues to sort out: wiper stalk works with a mind of its own, previous owner said he’s got a spare to lend…temp gauge also doesn’t display temperature well but it’s got an aftermarket temp gauge fitted in Centre console. Wheels are bbs also coated with that raptor paint…doh !

Yes, 8v MK3 engine. We have must put one in our 3 door MK2 and it goes waaaayyyyyy better than it ever did in the MK3. Probably helped by much bigger and freer intake and exhaust. Don't forget is hauling 100kg less too

Thanks for your reply Phil ! I get it that the car is light however I have 2 more mk2 with Diesel engines, one pd with 360 Bhp and a ve with about 200 Bhp…this petrol is no slouch either ! Feels about 150 Bhp…

its running the 2E management, can tell due to the inlet pipework, breathers, ISV throttle body and inlet which are all subtly different to the PB stuff

it may have had some nice work done to help it along, but a 2.0 8v will feel pretty decent in a mk2 as its a lighter car plus if its had a nice sporty gearbox fitted that helps as the mk3 box is a bit tame

Thanks rubjonny, its running mk3 wiring loom, every plug has a paper label with where it should go ! Also it’s not a tidy wiring loom but it can be improved Upon ! As per power delivery, the gearbox feel nice and tight and has the weighted throw but the reverse is a bit vague- maybe needs a set of bushes installed ! Other than that the car doesn’t need much work, bar a inner cv joint gaiter and a steering rack boot…thanks for your input guys !

Not unless it's after getting a pretty serious port and polish, and is running a pretty high light cam, at least.
    They're about 115bhp stock.

The engine has been opened up and rebuilt by previous owner, from the way it picks up i would say its a lot more than the 115bhp it came out from factory ! As i have a 360 Bhp mk2 with a heavily worked pd engine i can tell the difference ! I will take the rocker cover off when weather improves and i will take some measurements...Thanks for your imput !
