Hello all I've just signed up clubgti looking for a bit of advice on gearboxes for a mk5 golf 1.9 diesel Currently got an 02J 5 speed box and it's at its limit power wise and was wondering if the 02S 6 speed from the 1.9 sport is a direct fit and if it's by stronger. Been told it's a stronger box than the 02j but can't find much out about them Thanks
Hello there, The 02S is basically 02J with an extra gear on the end, so it isnt really much of an improvement strength wise. The 02M is stronger in some ways but it still has its own issues. In short I would suggest you speak to Martin Emment of gas n gears with your requirements and he will have the best advice to move forward
