Going back to the original question of exhaust manifold options, I have had my hands on a few of the cheap eBay options and whilst the are not hideous they need a bit of fettling, I even had to heat one up to get the runner to meet the studs!!

Best I have seen off the shelf is the Milltek for a Mk2, I know a couple of guys who have had good results using Ashley manifolds in Mk1’s but not something I have experienced.

    Love watching the developments Jon.

Its coming along quite nicely. Dummy build says I have 11.2:1 comp, not as high as I had hoped but at least itll give the std
pistons half a chance of lasting.
Got a large bore manifold with loads meat at the manifold face, so have opened it out as far as sensible to get a step from the head
into a larger diameter. Its a 4:1 but quite nice looking thing, and it was relatively cheap
Cyl head has had the guides done and is away with a weber manifold getting matched up (thanks Mart..)
My uprated valve spring supply problem (they don't fit..) is unresolved, VWH are very slow in responding/helping. Will have to chase them again, 2 weeks
    after the initial enquiry.
GS3 or more likely GS6 cam
Still humming and harring over webers or a management system....(I have a lumenition one spare..just need the bodies)

@Jon Olds why not get the Weber mounting parts from dBilas?

They have a decent selection and nice online webshop.

Already have a manifold, its away getting port matched to the head now, if that's what you meant.
If not I will check out their website now
    thanks

I keep toying with Weber’s as a replacement / upgrade for my Kjet system, my car is a bit of a pain to drive slowly and think the engine would benefit from open induction. TSR 1900, big valve head with 296 cam etc.

Big fan of webers, they must be good as the design has not been bettered in 65 years....
My full race cars start easily tickover steadily at 1000rpm etc
They do need setting up though
And they like a bit of fuel when you hoof it...
