Hey folks, i used to frequent this forum, back in the day but I took my mk2 off the road in 2007 for reasons I can’t remember and ended up with a couple of Alfa 166s in succession and joined the dark side of owner clubs. well, I’ve never gotten rid of my mk2, it was in my da’s 2nd lockup for 3 and a half year and then he was asked to give it back as there was a demand for space in Glasgow city centre so it was moved temporarily to another lockup ‘for a couple months’ about 40 miles away from where I live now. a couple months became just over 9 years. last week I went to collect the car after clearing a space in my garage, and it was actually the first time the doors had been opened, and first time I, or anyone had seen car in 9 years. Emotional it’s not perfect, needs a lot of work but has resisted rust fairly well (that I’ve found) so far. Couple little bubbles here and there but seems surprisingly solid. I’ll get it up on ramps soon. first plan is to get it running (I donated coolant hoses to Audi I had) I did have a 37k mile ABF to go in but I lost that as I haven’t seen guy that was storing it for me In about 13 years plan is getting it running, then 2.0 bottom end (for now) and then work on stripping, cleaning and powder coating where possible. It has 7.5” BBS RM which definitely need refurbed, and FK Konigsport coilovers which look like they’ve been in the sea for 60 years. Lots needing done. looking forward to getting it back on the road.
Blimey! Poor thing! It’s a shame life gets in the way at times. Look forward to seeing it bought back to life
