A slightly embarrassing question - some time ago I took off the intake manifold of my 1.8GL (GU) Mk2 golf along with a few other bits. I'm now putting it back together and I've sort of forgotten where a bracket goes. It's number 7 here: https://volkswagen.7zap.com/en/rdw/golf/go/1989-92/1/129-37000/#7

It bolts to the back of the inlet manifold but I'm not sure what purpose it serves? Is it supposed to be join the intake and exhaust manifolds together? Could someone enlighten me? Bits of the car have been sitting in a box in the cupboard for a while!!

    Cheers,
    Graham

yeah its a support to tie the 2 manifolds together, there are a couple types depending on which exhaust manifold heat shield it has so trial and error may be required, and thats if the required studs haven't sheared off
