Checked engine num and it is original however in logbook its printed engine code GC which must be a typo as the code is GG. Mighty 1.1 it is  It should do fine for my g-friend as a first car tho

    Haynes lists:

    1.1 litre 1980-on models:

Engine nos first (range I assume):

    GG 000 001: 31 PIC-6
    GG 800 001 (Formel E): 31 PIC-6
    GG 799 999: 31 PIC-7
    GG 800 0000: 31 PIC-7

Sounds like all should make sense.

We serviced the Carb on the Polo Sam with a full service kit together with a clean out.Its the same mighty engine as yours, runs nice now, but with a far superior power/weight ratio it will blow your doors off.

I will have a Weber replacement carb avaliable soon off my Driver (Kit No. 15290992 (1.3) 1977-1983) it replaces the Solex 31 PIC - 6/7.

Hardly covered any distance, less than 400 miles.

Will your weber fit my 1.1l engine? If so how much do you want for it?

Well, Kit No. 15290991 is for a 1.1 and it says the same thing, replaces the Solex 31 PIC - 6/7.

Another difference from a 1.1 and 1.3 I can think of is the pipe which comes off the downpipe and upto the underside of the inlet manifold to warm the fuel/air mix. Also I dont think the 1.1's had a corregated pipe just prior to the centre box and after the downpipe/system connection?

I also have a new 'Ernst' downpipe with that bit I've just mentioned above in it.

Quite a few other bits as well that I dont need that have covered the same mileage as the carb just about, leads, plugs (i think), clutch, thermostat, thermoswitch....

Anyhow's, e-mail me if you want anything. :)
