they may be the same make and design but i am sure that the r1 uses bigger carbs than 38mm that the r6 uses.

My carbs had a return so i am not sure what ones you had ? i think i would have experienced running problems if i had plumbed them into the diaphram breathers lol

It's all about getting them jetted to suit, as with all carbs really.

I am just wondering - old VW engines with carbs has the Vacuum advance distributors. Is it worth to try to convert the stock 16V distributor to vacuum advance distributor?

The throttle cable? I just trimmed the end of mine a bit :)

There's so little to the 16v setup it wouldn't be worth it. For the sake of 3 wires you're better off sticking with what's been tried and tested  (in my opinion of course :))

    For what carbs..?

If you know what bike they're off then ring Allens, they're a helpful bunch, I had no idea what I was talking about when I went there first time

Alternatively buy a 1.75mm drill bit and do it yourself (all my mates engines and my rear enigine went for this method as it's considerably cheaper [:p])

Another wiring diagram guys. Just a bit more colorful version of the "84 GTI 16v"

Today I decided to upgrade the 1.8 20V engine with carbs. I have the engine for quiet a while now. I wanted to equipped it with Digifant 3 from ABF, but the original manifold is just so ready for the carbs :) ...and I have already fitted the 16v (KR) dizzy by mistake (ABF dizzy is different).

As anybody done this to a 8v? Non cross flow, or is it too tight for the manifold?

    Good Guide!

What wires did you use when connecting the fuel pump. The original K-Jet pump has 4 wires going to it. And the bike pump that I've got only has 2!

    HELP!!!

The live and the earth... Should be pretty easy to find out which these are [:p]

Does the plug on the original pump only have 2 spades..?

    R1 pump

Hi Jolfa, thanks for all the info you have posted. Could you advise me on where to mount the R1 pump? Is it best to stick it where the original pump was under the car? Do you still need the original fuel filter as the R1 has a small filter on it?
