Key reader coil fault

    Hasn't done it for a while but now seem to be plagued by immobiliser inhibits start you know start dies.seen a few on eBay but not sure of compatibility anyone out there got a part number and also where is the connection to this hiding behind the dash thought better check before condemning. 96 GTi agg.i believe this is a generic part?.

    The reader spool is a linkage between the key chip and the immobiliser box. It isn't itself a coded component.

    The part number of your existing one should be on the plastic housing at the spool/key surround end. The immobiliser box is attached to a bracket on the metal brace between the bulkhead and the 'knee bar' behind the fascia (above the clutch pedal).

    ideally scan immobiliser box it'll tell you why its cutting in. key signal low means reader coil is duff :)

    it could be immobiliser box itself is starting to fail or wire between box and ecu is damaged. key reader coil is part number 1H0953254F
