I'm a luddite with this stuff. Time spent computering is NOT time tinkering.
I'll see what else I can find...

Next engine (re) build. Rallycross spec EG. 1588cc This is just the short motor. I built this 10 years and cracked the block bolting the head down. It has sat there all this time, untouched. Its getting stripped and rebuilt into a fresh block. These are the pics of it coming to bits....

Never ever bolt a head down, but not torque it. My mistake.
If you must, turn the engine upside down.
Oil crept down the threads, and guess what happened when (2 days later) I torqued it down. Hard lesson to learn.
    Anyway pistons.
Those are the carlos fandango forged mahles specifically for a full race application. Eye wateringly expensive, long lead time, and that was in 1993...............
    Heavy yes, beautifully made, yes.
EG motor is great, but Heron head means bowl in piston.
Only question is which head to use. Full race longman or Judd downdraft....
    48's or 45's?
    GS6 or 300 degrees?
    Bottom end power? Nah
    Jon
