Let's hope it clears on the bonnet after all that.

    I'll get me coat.

    [:D]

A lot of rework there guys, dedication indeed.

I have the same strut brace, I cut up the mounts and moved them backwards.

Picture paints a thousand words Tristan? If I put the brace further back then it sits over the brake fluid reservoir and doesn’t clear the air intake either way.

    I'll look at it tomorrow.
Air intake is different on mine, I used the mk2 head.

I'm blaming old age, and tiredness.
It seems I'm the only thing backwards.. I moved it FORWARDS.
    Oops.

I added the piece of round bar to spread the load into more of the top mount plate.
I didn't cut off the unused bracket, in case I ever need it again.

Yes, I'm not a good welder

    Busy day today.
First we changed the resonator in the exhaust as the baffle had come loose and was making an awful rattle. Bought the right size reducer this time so the job was muuuucccchhhhhhh easier this time, after I got the pipe out. That exhaust jointing paste is like superglue, I’m not using that again!
On to the seats. Welded on the leg. It went completely wrong. Cut it off again, adjusted and re welded hence the weird shape [:[]

Anyway, it fits now and won’t been seen. Needs a lick of paint.
Where the side plastic and tray sits on the seat has left a bit if an indentation etc so it needed covering. Made up a trim from aluminium sheet. Needs a lick of paint.

Thats it for a couple of weeks now while we get some much needed sun, sand and snorkelling [:D]

Back from Minehead and the Golf is stripped and ready to go to the sprayers in the morning. Just the door handles and boot lock to come off and the sprayers will do the glass. Exciting stuff …….

I'd have just lacquered it after rubbing it down, patina for scene points.
On another note, I called in at an old haunt of mine today, they used to have loads, I mean loads, of old alloys in sets to see if could rustle something up for you guys, but heweighed the lot in before Christmas, over 2000 wheels, average £15 each.
Know he had pirelli P slots, xr31, metro, allsorts of wonderful stuff. I had some rs1600i alloys for my focus years ago.
    Such a waste.
