I'm using Epytec VR6 mounts which are different to the standard 1.8t swap mounts - they move the gearbox/engine position to the drivers side by approximately 50mm. Their driveshafts are 500 quid and they have already messed me about, so I'm gonna find a local fabricators.

Before I go ordering some up... is there anything I should bear in mind? I've not done this before!

Do VW have a specific spline type - how do you spec that?

I should measure the gap between the cup and the hub at ride height I know, but how do i get it accurate and how accurate? 1mm+/-??

I'm using '02A' cups, on an FBL 02J gearbox.

On the Retro Rides forum, there was a thread maybe a month ago, started by someone utterly delighted with the service they got by a UK company doing custom shafts. If you search there it might help. I'd say most of your questions would be best answered by the shaft company.
