So with my mk2 headed home, it was dropped off at the port for shipping on the 26th of May, I’ve decided to make a list of things I know need doing and some advice of how best to do them or the correct part numbers to order.
    1. Hand brake cables - this being an early mk2 I believe I need the shorter cables but not sure what part number they are.
    2. Heater blower motor
    3. Properly wiring my stereo
    4. Petrol tank straps
    5. Flashing oil light on dash, it was like this ever since I did the vr swap back in 2018 but since I haven’t seen the car since then I haven’t had a chance to fix this. Not sure where to start.
    6. Rear fog light, hasn’t worked since vr swap but I remember RJ saying something about a relay that could fix this
    7. Build heated seat loom; I’m still waiting on my mate in Germany to get the last loom in the post for this
    8. Finish my headlight project with Sam on here

    Pm sent.
My foglight had a funny 5 minutes after my swap, and unplugged then reconnected and was fine :/

Early Mk2 you need the longer cables.

Blower, ebay - £35 - Spray adheadsive and foam from hobby craft

you can buy new ISO connectors. i'd redo teh whole lot.

mk3 tank straps are too logn but cut down to suit or mk2 ones, someone on FB was selling them, £50?

I've started to look at your headlight, will ping you some stuff in the next few days

I have a mk3 tank so would I need mk3 straps or will mk2 ones work?
I look forward to what you have come up with

    1. use pre-89 MK2 jetta if searching in americaland, 1800mm. the US golfs are all wierd
    2. whats up with it? do wipers work? ifalso broken, wiggle relay 18 in the fusebox
    3. as above get iso plug and redo proper
    4. mk2 and mk3 use the same tank straps, sometimes mk2 straps need a little bending to fit but they'll go
    5. swap the 2 oil switch wires over
    6. check behind fusebox for a grey/yellow female spade. on cars without front fogs this should go to M/1 on fusebox. if you have front fogs it plugs into a mating connector in dash loom and you fit a 53 relay in slot 7

The blower motor has been making an awful noise for years, so it just time to replace it.
I did think mk2/3 straps were the same but couldn’t remember.
Looks like I’ll be building a new radio harness, I’ll have more questions on that later.
I never thought to swap the wires around, I’ll give that ago too.
I remember you mentioning about the wires and that relay, once the car is here I’ll be spending some time with wiring.

yeah, it should be here by august
    Thank you sir

Come see me at some time.

I also have a BDE (same as the USDM BDF) 24v Mk2 Golf, which I have completely refined the ME7.1.1 engine calibration on.
As fast as an unmapped 3.2 MK2 Golf!

All built in my backgarden during the UK Covid19 lockdown.

I should really write a full thread on it soon.

I would love to see the write up in this. Once my car is here and legal to drive we’ll set something up

Where can I find the wiring diagram for the radio? I’d like to wire it up correctly this time and not just straight off the battery
