Hi,I have recently removed my old Mk2 master cylinder as I’m going to replace it-The one I got has a little disc inside it but my old one doesn’t-Does anyone know what that is for and do I need to use it? Thanks In advance.

personally I dont think its worth using old master cylinders as new ones arent all that expensive. its your call though. cant say ive ever noticed these metal disc and not really sure what its purpose is. I guess sme kind of restrictor

I would agree with RJ on this and recommend installing a new MC rather than used but it's your call.

genuine would be pricey, but if you shop around sometimes you find cheap on ebay. or look for ATE make which are who make them for VW, or go for other decent makes

RJ can you get genuine or ATE seals/repair kits for MC's?

I've used several Meyle ones from Heritage, never a problem.

I'm a fan of ATE stuff myself - used it a lot over the years and never a bother with it, I don't think I've used Meyle gear.
