mk2 gti 8v 1988 dign,,after trying every thing my car continues to flood

    i know about gearbox earth problems checked all ok new ecu ,been to local auto electricians there puzzled too, the day it broke down it popped died and never started since,before it popped i could almost tell it was going to happen as i throttle more it felt weird then popped almost backfire sort of sound any one help .compression goes to around 150 mark TEXT replies welcome 07716067018 ,

    how do i check turn engine over with air box open, and you v me got thinking about manifold gasket may be leeking would that cause floodin,also a was wondering about throttle body would the switches efferct it

    yes mate got good spark new plugs rotor dzzy cap leads coil

    just bought new engine thermo switch fingers crossed

    Just take off the top of the airbox and make sure metering flap is springing closed .

    white one sits on the top infront of spark plug do think its diffrent one never tried this one yet like but for a tenner worth a go.and a be checking flap to thanks,how do ye get a profile pic on

    White? Blue is for the ecu .

    just tried wjite no diffrance,blue one is that the one on side of cylinder head oil pressure one ?

    That's an oil pressure switch.
    If it's a Digifant engine, there should be 2 temp switches on the water pipe flange housing on the front of the engine. On early cars I think it's alloy, black plastic on later ones .

    2 wires connection plug on it?
    any of you lads from co durham ?would like some one to cast an eye over it

    the one on housing on front of engine has 2 sensors the one iv change had white plastic connection2 pins,the other single connection. what about throttle body switches ?

    You have an early 8v digifant like me. The white 2 pin sensor is the ecu sensor (its blue on the later Digifant with the plastic coolant flange).

    If you want to check the microswitches on the throttle body follow rubjonny guide in stickies. Be worth checking the FPR too however are you certain the ecu checks out? A fried ecu is famous for overfueling on these engines...

    well a bought new ecu but may of gone so im doing to get it checked the fuel pressure reg is a new one to .

    im going to get ecu re checked bought it new so should be ok unless its gone again earth s should be ok its been in durham electric s surely they should of checked ecu to? whats rubjonny guide stickies?? fpr new to ..

    Bad earths can fry the ecu. Best to make doubly sure all the earths are good e.g. battery to chassis leg to gearbox, head to coil and there is one more I think which someone will be along shortly to advise.

    I don't think you will be able to view rjs guide if you are not a full paid member. It's in the Engine FAQ section. Worth a tenner just for the guide (its basically how to tune and keep sweet the 8v digifant).

    thank you for the advice going to check earths again ,a was wondering should there be an earth from inlet manifold,
