Well doesn’t look like much today but feels like a massive step in the right direction.

started putting my pretty brakes on, sadly I forgot about my front discs and they were a bit surface rusty so I cleaned them up. I my 256 pads didn’t fit? I thought they did?

    God these wheels are awful.

Then onto the back, thanks Mr Newman for the discs but didn’t have a rewind tool so I couldn’t fit the rear pads either :(

and then got my NSR shaft in as I couldn’t get the inner CV in the moving position.

got my haldex thingy off for modification and my hand brake tubes for clean up.

let’s hope one of these fit..

I have no 40mm tube and the tool was at my dads work. So I’ve bought another tool, £16

Not too expensive, and probably a bit better than a home made

    After many hours…

    I celebrated with:

    BE729081-621F-445A-9472-3E97E31E67FB.jpeg

    then I tried it…

    C031672F-A9AB-4529-BF39-3F21CDE23BF1.jpeg

I’m now sure the reason my keypad screen doesn’t work is because it isn’t I2C so everything in the code is expecting I2C but it can’t find it. As that screen above is as you can see, on I2C

I have no idea what 12C is, but yeah, I thought as much myself.

Well not a huge amount done today. Got the pedal box, servo and column in.

This is the second plug plugged in, the first was the pedal

    Holy moly..
    E0542EB3-F537-44BF-8711-30FE037335A2.jpeg

Even put the wheel on, indicators and plastics in then started on the fuse box wiring. This is the first time in my ownership the wheels have been attached to the steering wheel. Feels like a big achievement.

Once they were in, plan was to get the brakes plumbed up but my rear caliper had other ideas and so did my hand brake cables.

    9266BD68-BF07-40AA-97DF-33274B89D0B3.jpeg

the cables we thought were too long but these are the “longer” cables so we found a mk2 golf tube and chopped it down to the length i needed and just put it in line to see if it would help, it did. So I’ll weld them in and we have a working hand brake!!

yeah you need the shorter cables, post 88 1600mm. or maybe syncro ones which are the same as mk3 golf at 1613, but then you dont have a syncro tunnel so...

    So… we make stuff!

It’s super thin so wasn’t fun but we got there…
That kink looks so much worse on the picture. It’s barely noticeable in person

these are the shorter cables as dad bought them for his but he needed the longer ones. The longer one are waaaay to long.
