I've kinda mimed trying to do gears if the stick was a bit further forward and seems liek it might be alright, but not the most scientific way

It's a lot shorter coming from a 4wd car, so it's not up by the steering wheel.

I'm sure it'll be fine probably have an opposite effect for me as I'm tall so will be even further away from it lol

Sadly no more work for a while, I’m off to Lisbon for 2 weeks.

This afternoon the rain temporarily ruined my fun.

    118F9A4C-86CB-44EF-A20D-302178A3EF1F.jpeg

I didn’t take anymore sadly. I managed to get the mounts welded in fully now to tidy it all up.

    Plan is to:

    Tidy up mounts/welding,
    Weld in diff,
Mount diff to car via existing mount,
    Modify tunnel for shifter cables,
    Modify prop mount,
    Driveshafts :(

then fab work is very so close to being done

Well nothing to report, but I got a free engine stand so that’s good right?

Once I’ve finished my welding I can whip the engine out, and check it out. Hopefully it’s all good.

Made what feels like good progress today.

Got the rear end off the car after taking some measurements.

    F5ECD5F2-CB03-4A2A-8C8A-DD4CDCBEAFAC.jpeg

time to fire up the welder.

got everything lined up and tacked in then went for some real welding.

    E6D2D552-6D57-4B51-9006-BFD4E9552E92.jpeg

    built the front cradle,

    E9F54B89-12CB-43AB-9BF5-82AFA339AE7A.jpeg

    then added some reinforcements.

    E2EF96C3-CAE1-4A83-AA52-2E9391B62C5B.jpeg

I’m unsure if I should add some side support as shown in cardboard

    58183A25-A56D-4FB8-8737-1BCDE9AF2EDB.jpeg

I got it back in, and bolted up. Happy days! Then moved onto driveshafts, broke it and stopped. They’re too long (I knew this already) which is enough upset for one day!

    69BBAB3B-821A-4BEF-8BC1-B6E61CC13C2D.jpeg

Then it started to rain, dinner and darkness dawned so dad and I set about finishing the wiring. I must say, I’m almost finished now.

    C1B2DE38-75C2-4746-9688-59AE7643BAA6.jpeg

Need to find my stash of pins to put oil pressure etc through T14a, some ring terminals for my earths. And join a couple of wires from the brown mk4 plug which I was originally confused about.

the rest of the CE1 loom I don’t need too! E70C1893-0FB4-4EF5-8F2E-76A0F42F04FA.jpeg

    It’s getting closer and closer!!

Tied up a few loose ends yesterday.

Started with my holes in the arches that I’d made for the engine mounts.

Made up some plates and welded them in.

    61359F24-E713-4F01-ABF6-7F429E0EECA7.jpeg

Repaired the awful previous repair, properly. The hole that was made, welded and then not treated so it got a lot bigger.

Going for the factory look, to the untrained golf eye you’d never know.

Then picked up a cut from a friend, and make work on the dog bone mount. Roughly lined up.

    Then cut.

And then it’s rough position until I finish it today.

Not sure what went on up there...

    Tacked into place.

    D3B3B9BF-3DF1-478E-AD2A-4153F18FEB5A.jpeg

Slight issue with the PAS pipes, I’ll remake those and move them. I’ll also remove that bracket for the 020 shifter.

    8343AB00-403D-4E4C-98D9-8AD153040407.jpeg

    Underside welded.

    1137A739-D47E-4C29-BEA1-4DB3DCD87C88.jpeg

And I wasn’t feeling great so I primed it up and put it back on.

In theory, I should be able to fire the engine tomorrow, but I’m not going too.

    Well..

Absolutely nothing has happened, sadly.. I’ve spent more time out of the UK than in it over the past month or so and won’t be back properly for a while.

I have been collecting parts, I’ve got brake bits and little odds and sods building up.

I’ve managed to source my hardest part so far, Rallye Rear Carriers!!!! I paid, what I’d say is a decent price for them, considering I’ve not found another set. But I need to collect them, so when I’m back, I’ll have to pop up and grab them.

I’ve also picked up a set of cheap wheels, unsure of the Offset so I don’t know if they’ll fit, but they might work for track wheels. They’re curbed and a bit worn but that doesn’t matter.

They’re Rota RB’s, 15x8, ET is anywhere from 28 to 34, I hope it’s closer to 34 as I’m not modifying my car at all to fit them.

I’ve got leads on a rear ARB from the same person as the carriers so hopefully he’ll come through on that too!!

Well I test fitted a wheel, it fits under the arch on the front but I don’t think I like them!
