Treated myself to a stack dash for the rocco, second hand of course, i could never justify the cost of a new one!

should be fairly easy to wire up, its completely standalone and takes feeds from stack sensors that i got with it, just need a rev counter feed and speed signal feed (i can get this from the rx8 driveshaft ABS rings)

now got just about everything I need to fully complete the wiring loom, happy days

Will put some info up once i've got it working, but essentially it needs ignition live and ground feeds to power it up, it needs a rpm feed (from 1.8T loom this is easy enough!) and it needs a speed signal feed to measure speed (I will use either a pickup off the propshaft or use the rx8 rear ABS rings that are on the driveshafts, the wheel size ect can be calibrated on the stack dash so speed measurement is accurate), then other than that it really is just a case of fitting the various sensors that come with the dash, there are two pressure sensors for fuel pressure and oil pressure, oil temp sensor, boost sensor, water temp etc etc, actually fairly simple!

Well the car is back running again, this time with a full exhaust, stack dash is semi wired in and registering RPMs which is amazing, also converted to RS6 4 pin coils and deleted the ICM. She takes a little bit of revs but then eventually dies out, the map on the Emerald needs loads and loads and loads of tweaks, the current one is enough for it to idle and thats it really.

Sorting out a throttle cable currently to work with the pedalbox, basically using a mk2 carb cable and modifying the pedalbox end to take mk1 style grommet, got some stuff for plumbing up all the brakes on order, waiting for a clutch kit from CG Motorsport then I reckon I can actually hop in the damn thing and reverse it out the shed under its own steam which will be a massive milestone!!

pics and vids to follow, very busy with work atm!

bled the brakes and the hydro handbrake yesterday and went out for the maiden voyage on a local country road, got about 100m down the road into 3rd gear till she started bogging down and cut out on me, then wouldn't start, my guess is that the map isn't really setup so as soon as it hits about 3k rpm it doesn't really know what to do fuelling wise.

Anyway, pushed it back home and it started up again fine once I got back.

Despite the unsuccessful voyage I'm still absolutely over the moon, I've put 100s and 100s of man hours into this thing and I really am starting to see light at the end of the tunnel now.

It could potentially be the worlds first VW powered RWD Mk2 Scirocco, if not then its certainly a 1/1 car, extremely proud.

Will try to find some time to post pics and vids soon!

Booked in for low boost mapping / setting up Jan 12th at MB motorsport, will probably just be on actuator pressure only with N75 unplugged as engine not fully built to take the torque yet. Hopefully if all goes well i'll rip about in it for a couple weeks before stripping it all down to paint it and rebuild it for the final time. Then once the engine is built etc it shouldn't be a million miles away map wise for full abuse!

mapping session with MB postponed as Matty has been off with the flu, bit gutted but not much I can do about it so no problem, always next time.

Car is ready for it though, few small jobs to complete after mapping then it can be stripped down for paint!

Thanks - just had a nosey at that manual now, its how I have done them actually, bit hard to see in the picture though. I could however make my wrap joints a bit tighter in to the harness bar though, will make sure to do that, cheers!

Yeah best is to have the wrap joints straight on the bar. It looks a bit difficult, but it's actually quite logical.

Edit: wait, I've checked the manual and it's not quite clear in there. It used to be better as far as I can remember. It's on P9 lower right and P10 top left picture. But the belt-end should come out below the belt towards the shoulder. You have to read the text really good I see...

Had it over to MB Motorsport upload_2023-1-25_9-44-34.gif upload_2023-1-25_9-44-34.gif upload_2023-1-25_9-44-34.gif upload_2023-1-25_9-44-34.gif upload_2023-1-25_9-44-34.gif upload_2023-1-25_9-44-34.gif yesterday, unfortunately never made it on to the rollers, few niggles to sort out first

    - faulty map sensor

    - wiring issues with sensor grounds

    - smoke test revealed air leak from turbo flange

A little disheartened but never mind, these things happen... Booked back in for next friday where hopefully we can throw some boost at it and see what it does.

A bit of chat about your car on Facebook at the moment. The chap from Sayner Works wants to do a similar project.

Thats my good friend Andi, speak to him quite a lot and think I inspired him to go down the same route although he is thinking an R32 turbo now in his!

Do you have a link to the chat?
