Really hoping someone can advise me with this. I have (still got it) my 1.6 EZ Golf GL. The servo (after 38 glorious years from new which I’m assuming) has decided to pack up and requires replacement. Problem is finding a 7” servo is like finding Jesus, Moses and the Burning Bush in a pub virtually impossible. I was wondering if installing a GTI 9” servo is ok or would I have issues. Or does anyone know of an alternative. I have got a replacement Master cylinder as I thought it was that at fault.
Can't see a problem with bolting it on, it's an upgrade people normally do, probably end up with slightly better foot power.
Bigger servo, and while you're at it, a 16v master cylinder, will improve power and pedal travel no end.
may find a 22mm master will make the pedal a bit short if you keep the original calipers, you can switch the servo without opening the hydraulic system so thats where I'd start anyway
yep, you'll have same brakes as a 1.8 carb then. can put vented 239 discs and pads on, and have same brakes as a GTI but with drums
