Hi guys does anyone know what i need to to wire in an amp to my standard head unit, there are some blank plugs in the back of the head unit that have amp writen on them so i think there must be something i can buy. I founf the remote output in the blank block but need the signal output Here are some pics of the stereo As you can see i found which one is the remote switch feed and fitted the Blue wire
You need to replace the yellow block with an 'Autoleads PC3-11' lead giving you 2 pre outs & a blue remote switch. (on eBay here for just under 10 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PC3-11-Autole..._Cabling_ET&hash=item5ae0f85454#ht_500wt_1054) Very in depth guide to mk4 ice here http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/177496.aspx
I have just wired up an amp to my factory MK6 head unit. What a nightmare on the newer stuff due to can-bus systems. You can use a phono out converter but its just another thing to power. I took straight from the speaker outputs from the HU to the amp and the only other one to find is a remote. NONE of the accessories in the MK6 are turned off when taking the key out (Switched 12V) apart from one i found at the ignition barrel. I now have a factory RNS510 running a 500W JL amp and its all hidden so you would never know!
