Hi guys, After my head gasket change, I have occasionally had the oil buzzer light and buzzer come on randomly. I thought it may be the side head oil pressure switch (black one), which I have just replaced (with a ECP 1.4 bar one). However now the oil light comes on (flashes) whenever the car is revved over 1k. The car and engine has done over 194k, so was going to replace the oil pump and clean up the sump. But should this replaced switch cause this oil light to Are ECP pumps okay, or should I stick with VW Heritage (topran) ones. Thanks in advance. Sent from my ONE A2003 using Tapatalk
I don't think I had the buzzing before doing the head gasket. Im going to try changing the oil pressure switch back a day see if the oil flashing light disappears. I will still replace the oil pump I guess. Sent from my ONE A2003 using Tapatalk
That switch shouldn't be rated 1.4bar, isn't the original brown one 0.3bar? Sounds like you may have a normally open switch too, rather than the normally closed one that should be on that wire. So you're getting the warning light whenever the pressure is above 1.4bar. Light with buzzer is associated with the other switch on the filter housing. Check wire condition and connection cleanliness. Part numbers are ambiguously shown here. For the head sensor you want either of the top two "1" part numbers 028919081D or H (blue, 0.25 bar now), for the other one, either of the first two "2" part numbers 056919081 or 081E, 1.8 bar, white.
Just to update, as EZ_Pete mentions that switch shouldn't be 1.4bar. I replaced it with the correct 0.3bar (both of these from ECP were black, as was my original one). I also replaced the white switch close to the oil filter, and this seems to have cured the oil buzzer light coming on when revved hard. Hopefully it was just a switch on its way out. Thanks again guys. Sent from my ONE A2003 using Tapatalk
