    Hi,

    Mk3 Golf 16v

Just installed new rear discs (Bosch) and all other bits on the stub axle of the mk3. FAG bearings, bosch sensors, meyle stub axle, VW gold metal dust cover washer thingy.

One side is fine but the otherside the abs ring touches the sensor.

Is there some clever way to align the disc?

    Thanks
    Matt

    Nope.
Are the sensors different left to right, by any chance?

They don't appear to be sided by part number. Hmmmm the gold ring appears to act as a spacer. Perhaps the bearing is not home enough within the disc

Just tried the old disc and same problem.

I'll take it all apart and see if anything is not right.

Well I have found the issue. I always say steer clear of topran but these stub axle were on offer and I took a punt. They would work fine on a mk2 as abs not used but the machining is crap... the ABS sensor hole is slightly lower on this side vs the other side.

I also swapped all bits except stub axle over from other side and had same problem.

NEVER BUY TOPRAN. I had an issue with a crank sensor in the past in that it was too small in diameter for the block. FFS.

Between that and the top mount plate, you're getting good at this troubleshooting!

Solved. Meyle HD ontop, topcrap on the bottom. You can see in the pic the abs sensor location is slightly different between the two. Meyle works fine on car and does not touch the sensor.

It looks better made, in general, doesn't it.
