My 9a engine is in finishing stages so i need some cams for it, cant splash out on schrick ones which i realy want but my garage sugested reprofiling original cams for 200 quid, should i go for it? If i do what profile should i go for, 276s? Bottom end fully rebuilt and balanced, head skimed and flowed, manifolds matched to head. Any advice boys and girls much appr.
we have some re profiled cams to go in sick2k`s valver when the weather picks up,ile get him to post the before and after figures when it is set up,do a search, theres plenty of topics on 16v cams, makes good reading
Try Newman cams, you'll get Schrick durations but not lift. With their reprofiled cams, you get 10.2mm lift ( KR cams 9.6mm) Schricks give over 11mm lift IIRC I'd try a 268 inlet cam with a 276 exhaust cam, It'll give you good top end power with decent mid range. Have a look on my site at the 'tune up' page, lots of 16v with different cams dyno plots from Stealth Edited by: G_V_K
I've never seen any Newman cams in a 16v Golf, but with the Schrick 268/276 you get as good midrange and torque as my 9A with KR cams, but an extra 20bhp at the top end! http://gvk.altrezia.com/page4.html Edited by: G_V_K
