Right hand drive, and its only about 500 as expensive as a base spec GTI, but actually comes with a better spec than a GTI.

Work are introducing a Benefit Car Scheme, and i might be tempted to get one in a year or two. Would have to be a 1.4TSI model though due to the tax on it.

wouldn't spend 23k on one, which was how mine ended up by the time you add some extra's......prefer the GTI myself

mings, 23k would buy a proper car

    True story.

Would get VERY low mileage for 23K, and the proper car would have a better interior, 350Bhp a flat torque curve, a proper sound and RWD.

This forum never changes! In fact, none of them ever do.

It was never a "What 2nd hand car can you get for a new scirocco price?" thread.

Although, if you were in the market for a 2nd hand car thats out of warranty that would cost more than my car is worth to put right, then i wouldnt get an M3, there are far more exciting cars.

But for a brand new car, thats no more expensive than a GTI. Its a fantastic price and beautiful looking machine imo.

Yup, usual retarded comments, comparing old out of warranty cars with brand new ones

Well BMW do a warranty scheme up to 100K miles and you can have it from any franchised dealer, so thats not applicable.

And Deako, what would be more exciting than an M3?

Obviously you havent ever driven one.

Who cares, its not comparable, its still a much older used car.

he was specifically talking about a brand new model, which aint even released yet!

I should bloody think so!

The Scirocco is something that is going to have to grow on me. I don't find the overall styling of it all that appealing. But it certainly breaks the boring usual boring mould.

can see your point regarding 'usual comments'.... but i wouldn't ever spend that sort of cash on a car because it came with a warranty!!! the depreciation you will lose just in year one would pay for a decent AA warranty on any car you wanted (within reason) for three years anyway!!!!

back on topic, that is crazy that the original corrado was dearer!!!!!

The Scirroco has 4 seats, a massive boot, can be used in the wet and has a modern engine.

    So does the M3.

So I WAS comparing like for like. 23K will get you a sub 25K miles E46 M3 with full BMW warranty.

Basically a new car with the depreciation gone.

I know your situation is different, as you're looking at company car stuff, but as a general buying practice, unless you're obsessed with newness, the M3 would be a better car for every single arena.

Andy - I'm not talking about buying a Mk2 instead, I'm talking about buying a proper driving machine thats maybe 2-3 years old, so its not the normal response :-)

The Scirocco with the options boxes ticked that make it a decent car comes in at around 25K.

Thats crazy money for a FWD Coupe.

    Compare a used scirocco in 3yrs time then . . . .

Its hardly crazy money, they are going to sell thousands of them, and i might jst get an order in before the end of the year aswell . . . .

Might as well get one now and enjoy being different for a few weeks. Before they're everywhere and every mother is using one on the school run, etc.
