Good stuff , that'll transform the gearshift .

Especially if you get a HotGolf relay tower roller, to replace the "golfball" that is standard .

that looks to be the earth for the radio, if so it should have a ring terminal on it and goes to a stud on the driver side A pillar just above the fusebox.

    Ta Rj will investigate.
As my caddy 2011 1.6 tdi seems to have destroyed its high pressure fuel pump and filled everything fuel related with glitter my mk2 is now my temp work van Fitted the 2 gear linkage rods after doing gearshift ball and socket and stainless jubilee clips around exhaust hanger rubbers to assist them. Wow no more thunking of middle silencer under floor hitting and 1 3 5 gears are so close together. It's really nice to drive. Rear wheel bearings next as nipped up but still play

the rears will usually have a bit of play, perfectly normal. my mot man has mentioned it every year since 2005 and only just this year made me do something about it

thats the flasher switch power feed from switch to stalk, if its melted then that points to bad stalk wiring or maybe someone put the wrong headlight switch on in the past that can melt wires depending which way you go.

Could this have an impact on my rear fog light not working?

as long as the repair was done right it should be ok?

assuming you dont have front fogs, you dont have a 53 relay in slot 7 and you've already checked the rear fog fuse clipped on top of the fusebox is ok, look round the back of the fusebox for a grey/yellow wire with spade connection. this should be plugged directly to M/1. If its fitted to a mating plug with same colour wire this will be why, this wont work unless you fit a fog light relay to the fusebox. This connection is only needed with front fogs, but you can still add the relay if you like even with just rears.

Found something 4.8 mm to go into snapped off spigot on my motometer clocks mfa sensor
    DSC_0643.JPG
Drilled gently 5mm hole not too deep as to puncture diaphragm and glue in cut off spigot
    DSC_0644.JPG
Now how can I test mfa operation as I don't have the stalk. Piece of wire to touch on stalk input somewhere to scroll through to test on ce1 system? Would appreciate a workaround as somebody has fitted standard stalk to mine

yep, on the plug look for the brown or brown/white, this is the common earth. pop your wire in there and loop it to the other 3 pins to activate the MFA functions:
white - mode select (earth briefly to change setting)
black/white - memory select (earth or open circuit to switch between modes 1 and 2)
red/white - memory reset (hold for a couple seconds)

this is for the mfa stalk plug hanging out the bottom of your cluster harness. its a 4 pin white hanging out near the stalks with round pins, wire colours above :)
