So fare I have a very clean mk2 scirocco 1.8 carb The parts I have acquired so far for the engine conversion . Kr engines x2 Audi s2 pistons and rods T4 turbo Badly modified 16v intake S2 stainless manifold with 5th port removed Ross machine racing fuel rail and injectors + regulator G60 wiring harness converted to fit scirocco + ecu I collected for my g60 golf . Will get some pics up of the parts and what I've got to do to fit and make it all work . Watch this space ......
If any one wants to put any input or ideas into this that might help , that would be much appreciated
I wanted the box as you can hit 60 in 2nd and want a low revs at motorway speeds . I've started filing the Pistons to miss the oil squirters today will get some pis up when I can . Lots off engine parts being delivered tomorrow. Engine rebuild kit ?? Any one have a short runner manifold to take a g60 throttle body and my fuel rail ? Or got any better ideas ? Cheers
This sounds interesting, might be easier to find in the members gallery though. Looking forward to more pictures of your progress
Sounds interesting , but a 3.1 FD box ? That`ll just blunt everything It`d be quicker to 60 with a 3.6 Box surely Have you not thought about the `usual` KR lower and 1.8T upper hybrid inlet manifold ?
I think I've found a s2 manifold with throttle body just waiting for the bloke to get back to me . The gearbox I've looked into quite a lot . And for the fact I got the ctn gearbox for 150 . I know a few people running these and they seem up to the job . It was between asd or ctn and I have a ahu aswell Finally got my engine rebuild kit Friday aswell so I can start building the engine . Also rebuilt my s2 callipers just nee a 9 inch servo and I found a transporter brake master cylinder to match the callipers
Your call. 3.68 FDR can also hit 60 mph if you design your engine with revs and torque up to 7300 rpm. You will have much more axle torque for acceleration. All the 3.125 applications I have driven, including some 400bhp ones feel crap IMO.
Hi eddy cheers for the input how about a cha gearbox or could I possible make a gearbox out of the 2 I know the final drives are quite different
I would say the CHA is a bit too short on a turbo engine, especially as this is a Scirocco. For example an engine with a mild 200 lbft, a first of 3.78 and a FDR of 3.94, will make for a very useless pull away if you are hasty on the throttle. You might find the ABF CDA/DPA gearbox to be more suitable.
If you use a short intake manifold, you can use the fuel rail from a 1.8t. Just knock up a couple of brackets to support it.
