Definitely not a VW but the winters over here are lawless. I'm going to a main dealer to check one out tomorrow.
I did buy a 2-door 2012 (manual) new but that manual gearbox was a complete dog and I won't be repeating that fiasco but other than that it was grand.

These are in my opinion the original of that species - bit like the Mk1 inspiring the hot hatch boom

Deal has been done - should have it early next week all going well - went for a granite colour instead of the green (well the wife decided for me but that’s OK)

It's a big Tonka Toy but the newer addition (JL Model) has a nicer interior and as this is an 80th anniversary edition, you get the larger touchscreen, nicer seat material, cold weather package (standard but a must in Alberta), gas shocks, gun barrel grey inserts on dash, grille and headlamps, LED lighting and all terrain-tires

Yep and there’s a sub-woofer in the boot - I’ve absolutely no interest in sound systems but it comes with it as standard so what the hell...

I’ve got side steps ordered for it as it’s a bit of a climb in for the kids and will probably stick a bull bar on the front of it - the idea being that this thing doesn’t get parking dings and scrapes - and when I head to BC I’ll be ready for a bit of light off-roading

Well I've picked it up, registered and insured it. I must say that the technology is pretty impressive, I can remote start/stop/lock/unlock it using my phone and you can access daily reports on vehicle health/status and it sends monthly reports as well.

I've a bunch of stuff ordered for it - seat covers, floor mats etc. as my twin boys are the messiest humans I've ever met and I got 3M protection on the grille, bonnet and bumpers as they are a magnet for stone chips. Side steps are also on on the way - I'll put up a couple of pics when I get them installed.

Don't the door unbolt, plus most other things... but whilst doorless you need tunes.

You can remove the doors, the roof and the windscreen - I for one, won't be removing anything other than the two front portions of the roof. No problem with sound - it has an Alpine sound system along with Sirius XM satellite radio so you won't be short in that regard.

Update on the jobs/work done to the Jeep in the last month or so:
    • Seat covers and floor liners (front & back and boot) - Done
    • 3M on the grille, front portion of the bonnet and front wings and fog lights - Done
    • Install front headlight protectors - Done
    • Install cover for the spare tire as otherwise it gets covered in crap - Done
    • Install polycarbonate covering/guard placed over the plain welds below the door - Done
    • Install side-steps - Done
    • Install lockable bonnet catches (as literally anyone can open the bonnet when it's parked) - Done
    • Install plastic sill/door entry protectors - Done
    • Remove open plastic type fuel filler and install metal powder coated fuel filler cap with door - Done
    • LED front cowl/windshield lights - wanted to install yesterday but weather went from +20C to -1C (with snow) - This weekend all going well
    • Install system for holding extra external petrol containers - Done
    • Install foam headliners on the roof (stops roof panels freezing/roasting my head) - Done
Pics to follow next week if I get better weather to finish off remaining jobs

Just in case anyone is wondering what I've been doing with the Jeep lately - this was after returning from a fly fishing trip to the Castle River 3 weeks ago.(about 2.5 hours due south of Calgary)
The dark patches around the bumper, grill etc. are bugs that met their maker (in the shape of a brick sh!thouse) at about 70 miles an hour
