Evening all, Can anyone recommend to me a spot weld drill bit? Don't want to spend too much but would like to get something recommended. Drilling out spot welds on seat rails if it helps...? Cheers Andy
spot weld bit i have only used these type, so nothing to compare but they work well IMO http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CLARKE-5-...t=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item3f170a316c baz
I have a full set of about 15 genuine Dormer spot weld bits professionally sharpened in an engineering place. They're about 8 each. Worth every penny. Don't buy cheap ones. I've broken and blunted my fair share of cheap bits. I havent't even been able to mark or blunt one of the dormer bits yet. They're hard as nails.
Theres 9 piece kits on ebay that have 6 reversible cutters so 12 bits to work through, two drill bit shafts and 4 needle ends, not bad value at just over 20.
Well I ended up buying the one above (see link). Pretty cheap so I'll see how I get on with it, I won't be needing it too much for the time being and if it breaks I'll move on to a set. Hopefully it will get my by for now. Andy
My mate, makes them on a bench grinder out of broken drill bits, have done all the spot weld drilling so far in my project shell with his homebrew ones and they work a treat.
