Hi, my temperature gauge moves up to the centre of the gauge as soon as I turn ignition on, could it be the sensor in the block, faulty ? Cheers

What does the gauge read if you unplug the sensor?

It goes back down to zero or as if engine is cold, then if I turn ignition on but not start it (engine cold) and plug back again it goes up to halfway-3/4 engine not been started, wondered if I should just buy another temp sensor

In that case a new temp sensor would be a good start, and not too expensive either! You can change it losing hardly any coolant if you are quick. Do let us know how it goes.

if its a mk2 16v KR engine/managment there are 3 sensors on the side of the head, swap it to one of the other ones. if dash reads fine then change that sensor

thats right yep, you should have 3 single pin black ones which are temp sensors for dash, ecu and isv. they all should be the same ration, so you can swap the dash tyemp wire to the others to test if they're working fine. the bigger 2 pin is thermoswitch for 5th injector
